The first Tuesday in 2006 - January 3rd - will be an evening devoted to local artists interpreting the songs of Ewan McColl...such songs as The first time ever I saw your face, Dirty Old Town, Free Born man of the Travelling People, Manchester Rambler etc.

Feb 14th is a club night where new and regular contributors can take the opportunity to play their songs/material to a listening audience.


Feb 21st is a double header with the Sam Cornwell/John David duo and Nick Evans.


On Saturday 25th February at 11.15am the Tower of song is staging the first of a series of street performances. This one will be covered by the Evening Mail, who are sending a photographer. It takes place outside the now closed Three Cooks Bakery in Cotteridge. Come along and support it. Tell everyone you know and some you don't!


Feb 28th sees the return to the Roadhouse, for the first time in a year, of the full Tom Martin Band with new material from their forthcoming follow up album to Old Stones


This Saturday at 3 pm the Tower of song is staging the second of a series of street performances. This one will be covered by the Evening Mail who are sending a photographer. It takes place in Kings Heath High St. Come along and support it.


Tuesday 7th March is another Tower of Song theme night and this one is the FIFTIES Roots of Rock n Roll Rhythm & Blues etc.

This Tuesday 28 March the main set will be by Tom Martin & Band with support from Ollie Jobes & Bill O'Brien.


Tuesday 4th April will have a loose theme that will feature songs from artists who made up the British Folk/Blues styles - artists like Bert Jansch, Donovan, Al Stewart, Roy Harper, John Martyn etc etc


On Tuesday 11 April the main sets will be by Bill O'Brien & Tom Martin


On Tuesday 18 April its a double header with main sets by Paul Murphy and Carole Palmer.


 On Tuesday 25 April at 8pm there will be a special concert in aid of St Mary's Hospice featuring the Tom Martin Band & the Tower of Song Revue featuring Sam Cornwell, Tommy Dempsey, Bill O'Brien, Kevin Haycox, Nick Evans, Mike James, Oli Jobes. There will also be a display of local artwork on the main screen.
Tickets are £5 and can be obtained from the Tower of song on any Tuesday...and from Marion Barnett at St Mary's Hospice, Raddlebarn Rd. Tell everyone you know and some you don't...

Thanks to all concerned for contributing to this. Over £630 was raised and the exact figure will be slightly more but all were very pleased with this....another Tower of Song Revue in aid of St Mary's is planned for June.


Tuesday 2nd May at the Tower of Song, being the first Tuesday of the month, will be a 'theme' night...and it is the ACOUSTIC BLUES...etc...


On Tuesday 9th May, the main set will be by Tommy Dempsey, Nick Evans & John Rose.


On Tuesday 16th May, the main set will be by Vince Alcorn & Geof Brown>>FOLK/BLUES & BEYOND!!!
 


On Tuesday 23rd May the main set will be by Bob Wilkinson, Slide & Dobro ace Dave from Coventry,  and Ollie Jobes. If you like skilful and original guitar playing and original songs and inventive interpretations then this is the night ....FOLK/BLUES & BEYOND!!!

Tuesday 6th June will be an interpretation of the songs of Donovan Leitch.


Tuesday 13th June is James Condor with his band.


Tuesday 20th June is a double header with Kevin Haycox and Dave Lacy & Mike O'Neill.


Tuesday 27th June is the Tom Martin Band playing new material from their nearly finished CD 'Darkness and Beauty'


Tuesday July 4th, the main set will be by David Francis from the USA and a young outfit called 'Where on earth'...a great line up that deserves your attendance even after the match !!!


Tuesday August 1st, Jimmy Cox has been coaxed out of retirement to do the main set!!!! Also on the bill and making his Tower of Song debut is local writer/comedian/musician.....Eamon Reilly


Tuesday August 15th, the main set will be by Ollie Jobes & Mike James


This years festival is on Sat 26 August!! If you wish to help we are meeting at Bill O'Brien's Rowheath session on Wednesday 16th August at Rowheath Pavilion...see you there!!!!

Tuesday August 29th, there are two songwriters sharing the bill - Terry Clarke & Mickey Greaney. Separate styles but each with a lifetime commitment to their craft.


Tuesday 5th September, the main set will be by Carol Stratford & 'friends' (including a couple of old Beardogs). Good to have a female voice heading the bill for a change. Carol plays a mixture of self written material and her interpretations of Bluegrass/Folk on guitar and banjo. She will be playing some solo and some with her back up band on guitar/dobro/bass.....see you there!!!!


Tuesday 12th September will be an interpretation of the songs of Leonard Cohen... a songwriter of great skill and subtlety. If you know his work you'll not need convincing ,if you are only a little familiar then this evening will help you understand why he is held in such high regard by writers, critics and fans of great music and lyrics.

Tuesday 3rd October the main set will be by Sam Payne. This is the first time Sam has played at the Tower of Song and should not be missed.


Tuesday 10th October the main sets will be by Nick Evans, skilful guitarist with his own songs and interpretations of traditional & contemporary material...plus Brian Bannister making a rare solo appearance in Birmingham playing songs from his own back catalogue and new material he has been recording.


Tuesday 24th October the main set will be by Anthony John Clarke - originally from N. Ireland but now well established on the acoustic scene in clubs and festivals throughout the British Isles and as far a field as Australia/New Zealand/USA. A skilful guitarist with his own songs and interpretations of traditional & contemporary material, making a rare solo appearance in Birmingham playing songs from his own back catalogue and new material he has been recording.


Tuesday 31st October the main set will be by Tom Martin and his band.


Tuesday 7th November is a FIFTIES night...Buddy Holly/Elvis/Chuck Berry/Everly Brothers/Eddie Cochran/Woody Guthrie/Hank Williams/Cliff Richard (Keith's Brother!!!).
