50 years of Motown! Friday 6th February 2009 - MIDNIGHT CITY - Live authentic Soul music from Birmingham's premiere Soul band...Soul Music by fans for fans!

Saturday 7th February 2009: REA RIVER ROOTS SPECIAL - THE LAZY LIZARDS + TOM BELLAMY & EDDIE DAY-CLARKE - the welcome return of two Tower of Song favourites for a double headliner Saturday night! Admission £3.00.

THE LAZY LIZARDS fuse influences from all around the world to lay an exotic
foundation for some fine songwriting. The quartet consists of James singing
rich, rumbling vocals and playing acoustic guitar interspersed with blasts of
wah-wah; Emma darting between quicksilver flute and dirty saxophone; Mike
grooving on his double bass or his vintage Hofner, and all underpinned by Amjid
thwacking out the rhythm on kit drums, djembe, cajon or percussion. If John
Martyn or Nick Drake had spent a year backpacking around the globe, then taken
some happy pills and made a record then it might have sounded a lot like the
Lazy Lizards.
TOM BELLAMY is one of the finest young songwriters on the Birmingham scene, or
the Bristol scene, or any other scene you care to consider. He takes a
contemporary leap at the high bar set by great 60s songwriters such as Joni
Mitchell and Bob Dylan and clears it with a aplomb. Can it get any better? Just
add the soulful voice of Eddy Day-Clarke.

Andy with Roy Ashby on fiddle, Nigel Tame on flute and young Mark the 'little
drummer boy', they made a huge impression last time and will again. Come early!!
