THE ANN DUGGAN BAND ![]() The Ann Duggan Band are a Leicester based band who have built up a sizeable following over the last few years performing both in this Country, Europe and the States. She has performed with the likes of Larry Garner, Ike Turner and Chris Jagger to name but a few and has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices on the UK live music scene. Their music best described as a seamless mix of Country? Blues and Roots and Roadhouse Rock, played with a powerful combination of energy, melody and lyricism. Classic Rock Magazine described it as " Blue Collar Music at it's best". She will be joined tonight by her fantastic guitarist Rob Hines and Brian Tillson on Bass. THE DETOX COMBO
(AKA MJHQ ) Led by bassist Mike Hatton, this trio’s collective 90 years or more experience of playing Jazz and Blues brings itself to the fore along with superb keyboards and accordion player Phil Bond, a regular with Birmingham legend, the Steve Gibbons Band and Steve’s Dylan Project, and Andy Wheeler on drums and vocals. ![]() All three are more than capable vocalists and often bring in three part harmonies to a mix of the kind of material that you might expect to hear from the likes of Georgie Fame and Mose Allison as well as a wide range of other great Blues and Jazzy Blues, in addition to some strong, mature original writing from both Bond and Hatton. Add a sprinkling of outstanding soloing virtuosity from both Mike Hatton and Phil Bond and you have a band that can seriously enthral. |

BOYS The band was 'rounded up' by Rob Wilkinson in 2008 - all of the members had their own bands before or had guested as players with other bands. They were all drawn to the sounds of Nine Below Zero, Dr Feelgood, Ian Siegal and Albert Cummings etc. so they put a set list together and they went on the road in February 2009. It will be great to welcome them back to The Crossroads.

GOOSE If you love the blues you’ll love the Goose. The Grey Goose play the blues, with a touch of jazz. Cool, stylish blues with a jazzy heart and a gritty edge. The Grey Goose play some traditional blues tunes - tunes by artists such as Sonny Boy Williamson, Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, BB King and T Bone Walker. But the Grey Goose are a living blues band who pride themselves in finding their own voice and Frankie Williams is continually writing songs, some of which make it into the Grey Goose's set. Guaranteed the Grey Goose will move you one way or another.

SHADOW PLAY RORY![]() Shadow Play Rory is a genuine tribute band playing the music of the late, great Irish bluesman Rory Gallagher. The aim is to try to recapture the atmosphere and sound of Rory's great live gigs. Pete Gates explains: 'We have tried to recreate the mood and excitement of Rory's performances just the way it was, as much as possible, by getting the right sound using identical equipment and playing to original set lists'. The main focus of the band is to try and sound like Rory - not look alike, as you can see from the photo above. There is not a checked shirt in sight and wigs aren't an option! |
